Block of the Month - August

This months pattern is called Jacobs Ladder, Becky Simmons has a tutorial in US terms.
She also has a jaw dropping pattern called snakes & ladders well worth taking a look.

AUS Terms used, 4mm hook and 8 ply wool

HTR= Yarn over, insert hook into stitch,  Yarn over, pull back through stitch (3 loops on hook),
Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops

Round 1-  ch3 and join, ch3, 2tr, ch10, *3tr, ch10, repeat from * 2 times, join to top of beg ch 3
                 break yarn and weave in end. I join the yarn on a different side for each row.

 Round 2 -   join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                   *2tr in next tr, tr in next tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                   join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 3 -  join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 3 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 3 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 4 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 5 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 5 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 5 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 7 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 7 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 6 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 9 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 9 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 7 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 11 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 11 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Round 8 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 13 tr, 2 tr in next tr, ch10
                 *2tr in next tr, tr in next 13 tr, 2tr in next tr, ch 10, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.

Before completing round 9, go to a corner chain and loop round 2 through round 1 
and continue chaining the loop from the round above through to the last row.

Round 9 - join to first tr, ch3, tr in same stitch, tr in next 15 tr, 2 tr in next tr,
                5 htr into the corner chain loop, *2tr in next tr, tr in next15 tr, 2tr in next tr,
                5 htr into the corner ch loop, repeat from * 2 times
                 join to top of beg ch 3, break yarn and weave in end.
